Hui: where my two worlds meet
Hello!
I’m Kitlyn, the founder of Hui Living. Hui is my mandarin name from Taiwan.
I was born and raised in Taiwan, moving to the United States in 2018 to build a new life. Like many Taiwanese first-gen immigrants of my generation, I followed a familiar path, working in big tech as an engineer and PM. For years, the anchor of my life was my annual trip back to Taiwan every December — a precious window to step away from the corporate rush and spend quality time with my family.
The year 2026 became my turning point. After long years of building a tech career, I realized I was losing touch with my roots. I made the decision to leave corporate life behind and spent several months in Asia. I spent time with my family, but I also sought out master craftsmen who have dedicated their entire lives to preserving the cultures they care deeply about.
That journey transformed my perspective. Moving through those studios and fields, I realized how much I missed the delicate, intentional depth of these traditions in my daily life in the U.S. — even while living in a vibrant, diverse city that I love. I realized I didn't just want to visit this heritage once a year; I wanted to bring the culture I grew up with, and deeply love, into my second home.
Growing up in Taiwan, tea was never just a beverage or a passing trend. It is a mindful lifestyle, and a natural way to nourish both body and spirit. Tea is the warm welcome extended to a guest entering our home; it is my dad’s morning ritual to start fresh before a hard day’s work; it is my mom’s secret ingredient in her iconic braised pork rice. Because it holds these memories, tea naturally became my very first product category—carrying that same deep warmth into my new home, and now, into yours.

About the Shop
Hui Living is deeply personal. It is not a mass-produced, commercial select shop with variety of products. It was born from a genuine love for the Asian lifestyle and the meaningful connections it creates.
Every piece in this collection is personally sourced. I travel to farms and studios across Asia to meet the creators, immerse myself in their craftsmanship, and build genuine, long-term relationships. I select only the things that resonate with my heritage—objects built with patience, love, and care, even when that means higher costs and smaller batches.
What matters most to me is bridging these worlds. I want to bring these high-quality, soulful goods—and the lifestyle behind them—to the United States, sharing them with a community that appreciates the beauty of the slow and the authentic.
匯 (huì) means convergence—rivers meeting, cultures gathering, and worlds flowing into one. It reflects my own journey of growing up in Taiwan and cultivating a life here in the States. 蕙 (huì) is also my given name—a fragrant, elegant herb prized for its gentle aroma. Hui Living is where these two meanings meet: a aromatic gathering of culture, craftsmanship, and home.
